The Donut Hole Transforms our Donuts into Edible Works of Art
December 15, 2023
At Baker Boy, we work with thousands of retail bakeries, supermarkets and donut shops across more than 35 states. But few of our customers are as near and dear to our hearts as The Donut Hole shops.
The Donut Hole was the brainchild of Baker Boy founder Marvin Moos in the late 1970s. Marvin opened the first shop in our hometown of Dickinson, North Dakota, in 1976 and grew it into a regional chain of more than 20 stores in three states before Baker Boy decided to sell off many of the donut shops and focus on the bakery product manufacturing side of the business.
Today, the Halvorson family owns and operates the original stores in both Dickinson and Bismarck, N.D., and uses The Donut Hole name under a trademark licensing agreement with Baker Boy.
It has been a wonderful partnership and Baker Boy is proud to work with them – especially considering the decorative and artistic fun The Donut Hole staff does to bring their donuts to life. You can learn more about each store by following them on Facebook here: Dickinson Location and Bismarck Location.
As they continued to expand their creative horizons, The Donut Hole decorators quickly learned that creating unique donuts only available for certain days can drive traffic to their locations, equating in generous sales increases.
The Donut Hole uses mostly Baker Boy's ready-to-ice donuts, which arrive pre-fried, frozen and ready to thaw and decorate. They're also home to many flavors of our signature unique Magic Ring Donuts.
